What is the panel at the bottom telling me?

It lists every solving technique that is available on your board right now, and how many of each. It deliberately does not tell you where — that's the part you find. Tap a technique to see the cells that make it true and why.

Why won't it just fill in the answer?

Because then you'd learn nothing. Tapping a technique shows you the reasoning; applying it is a second, separate tap, so the move is still yours to make.

How is difficulty decided?

By the hardest technique the puzzle actually requires — not by how many clues it starts with, which tells you very little. Gentle needs only singles; Tough needs an X-Wing, Y-Wing, or Swordfish.

Will I ever have to guess?

No. Every puzzle is verified before you see it: exactly one solution, and solvable from start to finish using the named techniques. If a generated puzzle can't be finished by logic, it's discarded.

What do the highlighted colours mean?

Blue cells establish the technique — they're the reason it works. The amber cell is what the technique acts on.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. Puzzles are generated on your device, and the app makes no network requests at all.
